The Centre for Communication Systems Research at the University of Surrey was a large research group specialising in electronic, mobile and satellite communications, established and run by Professor Barry Evans.
In 1996, the Centre was formed, along with the Surrey Space Centre, from the earlier Centre for Satellite Engineering Research (CSER).
In 2014, the Centre became the Institute for Communication Systems (ICS). That featured the 5G Innovation Centre, which inevitably became the 6G Innovation Centre.
